Three Dimensional Enhanced Display - 3DED

3DED is a future oriented aerospace research program funded by the State of Bavaria in Germany and conducted by the following partners:

  • Elektroniksystem- und Logistik GmbH, München
  • Euro-Telematik GmbH, Ottobrunn
  • Technische Universität München, Lehrstuhl für Flugmechanik
  • Reiser Systemtechnik GmbH, Höhenrain
  • Vires Simulationstechnologie GmbH, Rosenheim
  • Stock Flight Systems, Farchach

The target of 3DED is the development and flight testing of a three dimensional situational awareness display for general aviation aircraft. For this purpose, a Grob G109 motor glider, owned and operated by the Technical University of Munich, has been retrofitted with a TFT display, an embedded computer system with SuSE Linux operating system and a CANaerospace-linked installation of flight state sensors.

The task of Stock Flight Systems in this program is the development of the entire flight state sensor system comprising of attitude heading reference system, air data computer, angle-of-attack sensor, alpha/beta flightlog and control surface position interface and differential GPS interface together with the CANaerospace host interface. Both SATS and 3DED are using identical CANaerospace/AGATE data objects sets which make them interface compatible.
